Chloe Rippey- November 1st

Hello everyone!

For our homework last night we were supposed to read “Tell Tale Heart” by Edgar Allen Poe. In class we went over this short story and the mood it created. Now keep in mind the mood of a text is the feeling which is created by the text. Usually the mood is in the form of an adjective, however our class was struggling a little in grasping the concept of not giving the texts mood as a noun rather has an adjective. In this story we found that the mood tended to be anxious and suspenseful. It was able to achieve this mood by using specific words throughout the text, such as “mad”, “nervous”, “vexed”, “drexed”, and “shrieked.” These specific word choices were used to help create the mood of this short story and what the author had wanted to achieve. This class period was pretty much a class discussion based on our short story “Tell Tale Heart”.
